Geography

Nestled between the Maloti and Drakensberg mountain ranges, Lesotho is one of the highest countries in the world. With a minimum elevation of 1,400m and a maximum of 3,482m, it is the only country in the world to be completely above 1,000m.

Lesotho is also one of the few dominions to have no coastline; it is completely landlocked, and as such has no oceanic claims. 100% of Lesotho's 909 kilometre border is shared with South Africa.

The total area of Lesotho is 30,355 km2; this is about 1/300 of Canada's land area, and smaller than Nova Scotia. Most of this is highlands, with many plateaus. Due to the surrounding mountain ranges, all areas of Lesotho are either hilly or mountainous.
